It adds some great new potential to the game, and one can hardly wait to see these movessjui8 in the professional scene. These additions of super moves will either make or break the game since it is the unique addition that the SoulCalibur series has had to date. The most notable experience one could note in the SoulCalibur 6 Network Beta Test was getting our chance to play with these new super moves! These super moves worked like the x-rays in Mortal Kombat and Injustice where you could them on command as opposed to a giant button combination. Some characters are focused around getting into these counter battles more so than others and will have a big impact on whom to choose. It isn’t just all about blocking your opponent at the right time anymore.Īlthough it can be extremely frustrating to find yourself on the losing side of this encounter, it has some great potential to give recovery time. It is a unique addition where a player’s attack will subsequently put the two into a battle that is rock, paper, scissors. Speaking of counters, the new counter battle system is cool and is like an anime scene where a big attack is about to go down. Overall, the new guard impact system felt like it was a smart change regarding the intensity of the battles experienced. Although unique, it was not very fun to play, and luckily SoulCalibur 6 has reverted to the prior counter system. In SoulCalibur 5, it had received a revamp that made you almost fall over and made the counter game insanely prevalent. The guard impact is blocking at the exact right time to stop the weapon from connecting and slightly put your opponent off balance momentarily. One of the most important changes added to this title was going back a few versions to reduce the insanity of the guard impact feature. Let’s go over some of the important things we saw during the SoulCalibur 6 Network Beta Test! Guard Impact The newest version of SoulCalibur outshines them all.Īlthough we only got the options to play most of the characters, it was a glorious experience! The characters we got to test out were Siegfried, Nightmare, Mitsurugi, Yoshimitsu, Sophitia, Tira, Ivy, Maxi, Voldo, Kilik, Xianghua, Taki, Zaslamel, Geralt (new from the Witcher), and Groh (new). The Soul Calibur series has undergone many different revamps throughout the years from breaking weapons to hard counters. Instead of trying to compete against others in the same region, players were met with opponents from across the globe! Sometimes the network connections made for some laggy experiences at the worst times – yet for the most part, it went very well and gave us a great taste of SoulCalibur 6! The New Highlights to the Game from SoulCalibur 6 Network Beta TestĮven though it was the SoulCalibur 6 Network Beta Test – players were more interested to see what the game had to offer. It required players to open their search parameters to all regions and all connections which made it much quicker. The main question – how did things go? Overall – pretty great as a matter of fact! There were some expected issues with long wait times to find matches – in the US regions. SoulCalibur 6 has been an esports title that many have been waiting for. It was the second glimpse the public has gotten to see this glorious title since the exhibition at EVO. The SoulCalibur 6 Network Beta Test on PS4 and Xbox Live occurred during the weekend of September 28-30th to test the network capability of the upcoming title.
